Chickens are not the smartest of animals but they do seem to avoid some stuff I offer them. For example, they steer clear of bell peppers, hot peppers, and bright/furry caterpillars.
I throw all sorts of stuff into their pen. Onions, noodles, potatoes, et cet.

Today I tossed them an old tomato plant, some little white wildflowers, and some horseradish leaves. I have also been giving them all the leaves I rake up from the yard and they have devoured them too!
But are there any wild flowers or plants to absolutely avoid?
I have been planning of giving them some mice I hope to catch in a live trap too.

There is also a great post on BYC: https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=2593-Treats Chart

I am fairly new to chickens but the book I have states NOT to feed potato peels (the green portion is toxic) and avocados (the brown part of the seed is toxic).
