Hi there!

I bought 4 Rhode Island reds that were sold as “laying or near the age of laying”. Only one of them has started laying eggs. I bought them 3-4 weeks ago. The only one laying has a fully developed comb, the other 3 have very small combs and they look younger, slightly smaller.

Is it likely they are just younger and need more time before they’re laying?

The ones with the smaller combs will probably be below 6 months and the older one might be about a year old. I have a female Rhode Island Red Who is 6 years old and I am still getting an egg from her every other day so they are a good breed to stick with.
