I just had a scare and thought my computer had a virus. I was getting this notification from Tend Micro every time I would click any link on this website:

OfficeScan detected a Web security policy violation and blocked the URL(s) listed below.
URL: http://api.viglink.com/api/optimize
Risk level: Dangerous

After doing some googling, some sites are saying this is malware and that if not blocked by antivirus software, it will start installing random things on the computer, redirecting you to unsafe websites, and tracking web activity such as passwords and stuff. Other sites are saying that this is just an advertising kind of thing and is safe. For now, Adblock Plus seems to be working to keep Trend Micro from giving me those alerts... so I hope I am safe here at BYC with Adblock on, but I'm not sure. I hate to have that on though, because I know you guys rely on advertising for income. But if my virus scanner says it's malware, I sure don't want to get a virus.

Anyway, thought you guys should know! If it's malware and was not put on here on purpose, then you should know the site has been hacked. If it was put here on purpose, you should know it's being registered as malware by antivirus software.

Thanks for the post. Viglink is one of our advertising partners. They are a pretty solid company and often work with Google.

That said, if you, or anybody else has problems with this, please let us know as many details as possible.
