Apparently I'm clinging to my youth.

My hair is natural blonde, but people have at times tried to say that I bleach it because for some reason, my roots and the hair near my neck are a dark almost gray brown. I have always had really dark roots and depending on how much sun my hair has been getting, near the ends it will be anywhere from white blonde to honey colored with the dark brown roots... it's weird...

I actually have the same! My eyebrows are very darkbrown to black too (depending on the light).. but my hair, not the roots, almost the highest blonde of blonde (not the roots). Even in this country with little sun.
Noone believes that I don't dye it, it's get annoying. Even if I say so I do, they think I am a liar... sigh.. and will probably lie about other things as well.. MORE SIGH. Some people actually believe that I secretely dye it for attention (because I am obviously lieing about dying it..) and call me a lieing attention-seeking w-word behind my back. That hurts.
I started to say; 'yeah I dye it...' when people ask. So they couldn't anymore. So I actually started lieing because of made out for one so many times while I wasn't :')

I know that it is a trait in the family. My brother has it too. My father has pure black hair. But his eyebrows, facial hair, and his carpet matches his uurgh.. facial hair rug; are bright red, his arm and leg-hair blonde. My mom has brown hair with black eyebrows and the rest blonde. So we are just a mix-a-roo.

They true most annoying thing about it, besides people that think that I am liar (they are short-minded booboo's anyway, that secretly hurt me more then I want to confess) is the fact that it often looks if I have greasy roots. Since it's way darker then the rest.

I found a picture to show it;

That's almost exactly my hair!! Yours "bleaches" out a lot faster than mine, meaning that it's light a lot closer to the roots than mine is, but otherwise it's the same.

Sounds like it's time to start deflecting, rather than answering the question. Hair that is bleached by the sun is normal; hair that is exactly the same shade from root to tip is most likely a (bad) dye job or a wig. Facial hair that doesn't match the hair on the head is extremely common (if you know enough men with mustaches/beards, you also know this!). There's no point in arguing with rude, ignorant people; if asked, just smile pleasantly and talk about something else. If pressed, you can say, "my hair color is not open to discussion," or "I don't understand why that concerns you?"

Incidentally, Loopeend, your coloring looks exactly like my brother's when he was younger. Maybe it's a Dutch thing? I also have a couple of cousins that have blond hair and brown eyes - now that's an unusual combination!

I died my hair dark brown for a while, since my natural blond hair made me look really young, and their is a big prejudence here that blond women are dumb, and I wanted to be taken more seriously at my job.
It worked. Really weird...that something that silly as a hair colour can change so much. I suddenly got taken seriously at my job, and a whole different type of men started to have interest in me. (next to being dumb, blond hair is also a sign over here that you are easy to get in bed....sigh)/QUOTE]

A friend from college did the same thing, and it had the same effect, she was suddenly smart by having dark hair.... Ididn't ask about the sex stuff we were just friends and I knew she had no desire to date me so I left all questions about dating and sex off the table unless she brought up the topic, and I was smart enough to let her guide 90% or better of the conversation (occasionally I asked for details to understand what she was trying to tell me nothing more).

My brother's beard showed more red than his hair (being brown headed there is usually some sort of reddish hue to some hairs, a person's head of hair is usually made up of more than of shade). I don't like wavy or curly hair on my head so I get a buzz cut or a very short parted hair style because the longer I let it grow it gets more wavy then it gets curly, and I want to rake a comb thru it, not get it embedded in my hair.....

Ok, i'm going to admit something here. I don't do the grays for myself I do them because if I don't the girls try to groom them out and they're really good at it.:lau The complexion is due to this stuff called green oil from Thailand, I get it off ebay it removes the top old layer of skin that settles into wrinkles and gets rid of spots. Sooo it isn't that they aren't there they just aren't noticeable.:)
Chickassan, Don't care about my hair but, wish I had your wrinkle free complexion, no crows feet no dark circles under my eyes etc. You barely have any gray, it it bothers you why not have some frosting added to your hair - on purpose.

Of course at my age they would wonder what great plastic surgeon I went too.

Oh sorry I think I was a bit unclear. I wasn't talking about sex-stuff.
I meant that with blonde hair I got (en get again now I'm back to blond) cat-called all the time. With dark hair this didn't happen (oooh, it was so nice and quite). I suddenly was a 'serious partner' and when people flirted with me it happened in the respectfull way it should happen. Starting a conversation and ask politely for a date instead yelling dirty stuff from across the street and honking their car.
SO weird.

Brunettes get the "mating calls" too. Last night at the sphinx I had a fella yell " girl you so fine i'd eat your dirty socks." Nice!:lau
