well, I guess this is the best place to put this....along with a lot of the rest of the country, we are experiencing an extreme cold snap. Although we are on the moderate end, this morning the temp was 15 below zero according to our thermometer, and about 6 to 8 inches of snow. We have had the flock on 1/2 the recommended dose of Aviacharge 2000, since the end of December. We have noticed their appetites seem to be diminishing since we started them on it...especially now, when it seems they should be eating their heads off, as it is so cold, they don't seem to be very hungry, but they are all of good weight and seem cheerful enough, all things considered. So does the Aviacharge suppress their appetites? Last year we used kelp meal (only) and I seem to remember the same thing happening. Aviacharge has kelp meal in it, so maybe this is the reason? Should we worry about their lack of appetite?

That sounds odd but if the same thing happened last year....

Have you checked for mites?

Are they still laying normally?

Anything else out of the ordinary?

No, yes, and no.

I mean we can't check them all for mites, most are too difficult to catch especially in this weather, they are free-range.. But some we have and they are fine...and normal weight to slightly tubby. They are laying as much as they would normally do in this weather. And they act fine. It is just weird. i just wondered if anyone else had experienced this or knewfor sure if the cause was the supplements. Maybe they just know when to quit eating so much....at the beginning of the winter they were pigs.

Two days ago I started adding Aviacharge to my girls water, because it was so cold and I was worried about them being too stressed from the cold.
They aren't filling their crops up as much.
It's strange.
Usually they go to bed with huge full crops, but these last two days their crops are much smaller.
