Appl Cider Vinegar~ Need suggestions on amounts and how to use it

you want the unpasturized, unfiltered ACV that is the one with the mother in it.
I also read where ground or crushed cayenne pepper has some benifits too, shortening molt period, increasing cold weather laying, and rodent control in feed and bedding. I'm not sure on the amounts.

There's a health food store just 5 min. from me called "New Life". 1 Qt. for $5.35. Bragg brand.

Now, do we shake it up before using it? or leave it as is with the mother on the bottom? Bottle says shake well before using, but they were probably counting on it being for people not birds.

The sales lady looked at me kinda odd when I mentioned it was for quail. lol...

Yes, shake well. All that stuff that is floating around in the bottle is the "good stuff". That is the stuff they filter out and without those floaters, you lose out on all the health benifits.

Quail like apples, so it is natural to like ACV. I think you will be surprised in them liking it! I have hard water also and use 2 Tablespoons per gallon. Right now I am treating a chicken with a sour crop and adding 3 or 4 tablespoons per gallon. That is about the limit that they will drink it. Good luck!

It's the parakeets and other birds that can be brats. lol...

Sour crop:( How's the chick doing? Is the ACV helping?
I've only had to deal with it once with a baby Cockatiel and it wasn't fun!
I hope the little guy is O.K!

The one with a sour crop is an almost 8 month old chicken pullet. She has been ill for over 6 weeks. Has been to the vet for a crop flush, has been on 2 different medications and now as a last resort she is on ACV in her water. And actually the ACV is doing more for her than the meds did. She seems to improve a tiny bit everyday, however only time will tell if she gets over it completely. Thank you for asking.

That poor baby.. Sour crop is a nightmare , I know from first hand exp.
I'm glad she's doing a little better, and I hope the ACV continues to help her!
