Interesting reading these responses. My dad used to put a tablespoon of ACV in the first drinking water for baby chicks. I don't recall the reason he did this but it was the only time he used it on the chickens.

I use this dog waterer from PetsMate and not a problem with algae. I really like it. Mine is the 1 gallon size for a dozen hens.

I use 1 capful (or so) per quart of H2O every other watering. I notice that the ACV water is drunk more than the non-ACV water (less left between waterings). I think they like it more than plain water

I've used Bleach...couldn't remember how much..is it okay in a metal tub or metal pan?
