apple cider vinegar and galvinized waterer

I would like to use ACV with my flock, but DH won't let me with our galvinized waterers. He says it will make them rust. Is this correct?

You can always make a cheep 5gal bucket waterer and use it in that.
It is good for the chickens so I wouldn't totally give up on the idea.
