Apple cider vinegar

For those of you that give your chickens apple cider vinegar, how often do you give it to them and how much?

I used to put ACV (1T to 1 gal) into their water but noticed black spots in the container & waterer, even with daily changes. So I stopped & researched, found that warmer weather produces this growth, think it's mold. So I don't add ACV to my water regularly anymore besides I'm fermenting my feed & that's plenty probiotics.
