Apple Cider Vinegar

Ah, that makes sense. We water in an open bucket and tub so no smell. Just dump occasionally and scrub so they don't grow algae.
We were scrubbing and refilling everyday. With the ACV we’re stretching it to 2-3 days before needing to change the water out.

If you are looking for a clear and comprehensive description of using apple cider vinegar for chicken health, get a copy of The Chicken Health Handbook by Gail Damerow. She goes into the science of using vinegar in an easy to understand way and describes both pros and cons.

Is this recommended for chicks as well?

Put baking soda down your kitchen drain if it is sluggish. Pour vinegar after it. Whooppee, clean drain! Can be white distilled variety. Vinegar also one ingredient in my de-skunking formula, only reason I keep it on hand.
