Extra Chores.

just be completely sure that its her fault though. when I was in middle school we lived as far away from the school as it was possible to be without leaving the school district, and a group of girls on the bus tormented me. they once convinced a substitute bus driver that I wasn't one of his passengers and so he passed me, even though I was there on time. I got in trouble for missing the bus, too.

I only missed the bus once when the whole family overslept one morning. Mom and dad were in such a hurry to get to work that they told us just to stay home...yippeeeee..........

It was hard to miss the bus in high school when you were the bus driver. That was back in the day when you could drive one at 16yrs old. If I was late so were about 50 of my peers.

Making kids do chores with the animals "could" turn them against the animals.

I would pick them up from school. BUT, be sure to tell them a specific time and place you'll meet them, then let that get by 15 minutes so that they have to stand in the cold. That way they will be sure to catch the bus in the mornings AND in the afternoons.

first how many alarm clocks do you own

if she misses the bus again while she is at school put one under her bed 45 min before the time she actually should be waking up

hide another under the dresser 30 min before actual wake up time

after she goes to bed sneak in and put one smack dab in the middle of the floor and set it 15 min before she has to get up

but if you do that you need to wake up 50 min early with a night vision camera because that sight will need to be recorded

if she misses the bus after that drive her to school and walk her to the school door and give her a kiss on the cheek or make her sit in the car until the first bell rings when she gets halfway to the door beep the horn numerous times and start calling her name when she turns around say her name aloud and i love you jelly bean i love you jelly bean if you really want to make a point go to the thrift store and buy some awful clothes so when you do take her to school you will make an impression

I vote for "other". I would make them go to bed EARLY, right after dinner and homework. That way they can't be too tired to get up in the morning. Then I would change their bedtime by 15 minutes for every day they got up on time. Also, if they get an allowance start charging them for your gas and time to take them to school. If they don't get an allowance then pay them an hourly rate to do chores for you and of course the money is used to pay for your gas and time.

I am so glad that my kids are in college and living away from home.

I have a friend who would drive the late child to school. Now this friend is not, um, small and she would wear her purple cow spot pj's to drop the child off in and yell and wave. You know, the child in question, who was one of the top wrestlers at the HS, was late but once.

The window/thermostat/heater thing...you are no dummy Boyd, just throw the breaker for that part of the house when it's time to leave...

I'd give more consequences for the window & the heater than for the bus. Maybe same amount of resources but that gets me more um steamed....and it could be a fire hazard too.

My Dad would have sealed off my heater vent, and maybe turned off power to the outlets for elec. heater.

My 14 yr old DS gets a ride to school... we're out of district so there is no school bus. He's just beginning to use the public bus to get home, and does ok with that.

(my mom, who was the nice one who drove me when I missed the bus & didn't ride my bike, once in 4th grade or so, put us on the porch to get dressed & go; ...we got a little better, I think)

Good Luck Boyd

When I was in high school (25 or so years ago), I hated getting out of bed in the morning. I would turn my alarm off and mom would come wake me up repeatedly. She finally fixed that problem though. She started keeping a bag of marbles in the freezer. If I didn't get up within 5 minutes of her waking me up, she'd throw a handful of those frozen marbles under my covers...man those things were cold. When you're laying in bed, you can't get away from those things... they follow you all over that bed... no choice but to get up.
