Approximate Age Cockerel start to crow?

Just curious when cockerels start to crow. I have a batch of chickens that are almost 4 months old.

It varies from 5 weeks to 5 months. Usually a more dominant roo will do most of the crowing. I have one right now, I don't know if he's ever crowed because I've never heard him.

What breed do you have? If you post some pictures of the questionable ones, breed experts might be able to weigh in if you're trying to guess genders.

My experience has been 3-6 months upon breed and place in the heirarchical structure of chickendom.

I've had bantam cockerels crow in the brooder at a couple of weeks old and large fowl cockerels that were nearly a year old before they crowed. There is great variation from breed to breed and even within a breed. In my experience Mediterranean breeds and bantams have crowed earlier and slower maturing large birds have crowed much later.

My first hatch had 10 cockerels out of 17 hatch. They were pure Marans and Legbars. The Marans were very vocal, they drove me nuts! They are now in the freezer.
This batch has a rooster that is a Cochin with the mothers being Orpingtons, Plymouth Rocks, White Rocks and Cochins. The other rooster is the Son of the first rooster. Quite a mix!

I had one start at about 16 weeks and the other started at about 21 weeks so 3-6 months seems like a reasonable range with some exceptions of course

Isn't it? Heres a vid of my dominant/senior boy trying to show my barnevelder the ropes the first few days he was attempting to Crow.

Here it depends on peer pressure lol.
The more boys the sooner it starts.
Last batch had three boys and the attempts started around 10 weeks but squeaks I assume were tries were popping up a couple weeks in.

We have a 5 week old one crowing. I have a suspected cockerel that hasn't started yet at age 7 weeks though that may be due to "him" actually being a "her"

I figured usually when a cockerel hears another crow it would try to join in.
