You would think I wouldn't post for confirmation, but I am. This cockerel began to crow, albeit a somewhat wimpy newbie crow. The saddle feathers are pointy instead of rounded, and he has begun to mount the pullets his age, who want Nothing to do with him! Increased over the past few days. Time for freezer camp, I think...tomorrow or Wed afternoon.

I don't like to hard cull but I need peace in the flock. There are a couple of other cockerels (Buckeyes) but they are not crowing nor mounting. They have time for me to try to rehome. I have already rehomed 4 from the hatch of 15. This = a total of 8 cockerels in the 15. He is 17 weeks.

I'm trying on fb and asking $5, I don't want/need the money but not going to give him away for another to have meat.

Just confirming. No one is in search of a bym cockerel. I was blessed to be able to have 4 sold at a small animal sale and rec'd $20! Wow. I gave the family a large cockerel that will feed them for a meal+, in thanks.

We eat chicken, our dog and cat are on a raw diet and eat chicken, not to mention the organs for them.

I'll post the Buckeye cockerels tomorrow for confirmation as well before I butcher. I will keep 1 Buckeye to watch if he is anything like his father, a great escort and warning sound roo.
I started the thread with 100% cockerel, because I knew. Thanks to all.
