Thats funny, they usually crow pretty early lol. Or atleast try to.
Oriental gamefowl usually take longer. My first crowed at 6 months old, that's on the early side. My main breeding male crowed at 8

We have a mix of hens, a few "carriocas" or Turkens who could probably handle Lucio. But I would choose to keep Paco (the black and white fella) because he is actually quite compact. I've seen a lot of roosters around that look like him and they are not very large. And Paco is showing himself to be gentlemanly already. If the hen he courts with his dance rebuffs him, he backs off. This is completely irrelevant but because I like gamefowl I have to ask. Do you have similarly built hens for them?

He's already chosen his favorite and escorts her around everywhere, digging up bugs for her, etc. So if I have to give one away, it will be Lucio![]()
Paco (the black and white fella) was crowing at 3.5 months. I thought that was early tooOriental gamefowl usually take longer. My first crowed at 6 months old, that's on the early side. My main breeding male crowed at 8

This is all very interesting, thank you. These are the first cockerels we've hatched here, so I'm learning a lot. We only hatched pullets before (dumb luck I guess)It is. But yours are mixed so it's normal that they have lost this trait. Plus it's highly dependent on conditions as well, so there are cases where they crow around the 4 month mark
