April 1st. setting.. *hatching*| need a buddy.

they say wait until at least day 7.

I dont think I'm going to candle at all. Most of my eggs are too dark to see anyway.

Just check for stink eggs maybe.

I'm sure im not going to be able to resist checking the lighter eggs after a week though. See what the air sacs are doing at least.

I would wait till day 7 though. They say the less you handle the eggs, the better.

Day 3 I just checked for veins. 13 definetly are good, 2 look unfertile and 2 I can't tell yet. You have to candle at night in the pitch dark for best results. You can see veins on day 3. How is everyone else doing?

day 4-5

Looks like I am going to be a mom after all. Granted I have 26 eggs and this is the only one with veins but I am such a proud mama already.

I checked 2 of my lighter eggs tonight, but i cant tell anything yet. Only been in 3 days though. I will try again this weekend.

Not going to even try to candle the marans eggs.

I was able to candle one of my maran eggs and though I cannot see any veins I did see a black dot in the yolk. The Maran and Welsummer eggs are really hard to see. Even in the light colored ones. I have one egg that is a real pale brown....Its my mystery egg and there is nothing going on in there at all.

I see what looked like the yolk at the big end of the egg. I have them pointy end down in the bator, so i dont know what it is. It looks like it is stuck to the end and its dark. But I am only on day 3 so who knows. Any ideas?

Bad egg?
Wait and see?

Shouldnt the yolk be in the middle?

Most of mine are "Stuck" to the fat end of the egg. I just gently swirl the egg aroud and it eventually moves freely. I think I do have one or two where it does not dislodge from the fat end of the egg.

I wonder if that is good or bad?

Weird that the yolk would float to the top isnt it? I turn the eggs manually every couple hours, so I dont know what else to do.

I just assumed those were the ones that were not fertle. I have a sneeking idea that a lot of my eggs are not fertile. I have a lot that do it too.
