April 2010 Pullets- wanna wait with me?

my grils will all be 19 weeks tommorow, all 8 of them are free loaders, although a couple of them look ready to lay, and my broiler hen has been nesting and doing egg song, but no eggs. I also haave 3 older hens, and only one laying.

I've had my gals since about April 11th (got them from the feed store) they were just hatched that week, they're black, and golden sex links. I'm still waiting..

I got my second egg today from my OEG! Still waiting on everyone else. She is quite the little egg layer! At least she loves me. Looks like she will be laying every other day if she goes the way she has been.

Yeah, for all the eggs, at least some of us are getting.
My count for today so far is 2 eggs, one nice blue one from my EE and one brown one from one of the BR. I have one goofy Australorp that is bawking around in the coop for 2 hours now, moving around from one spot to the other and just can't decide what to do. Yesterday she did lay in the corner in the shavings. Maybe she should get coached from one of the others

Oh, alright - I guess I'll get in on the fun and wait with you all, since I don't have any eggs to collect.

My girls were hatched early April, and I have yet to see any eggs come my way. I have 15 Buff Orpington girls (and 2 boys) from Mt. Healthy Hatchery. Several of them are starting to look pretty red in the face, but not one pullet has looked the least bit interested in the nesting boxes. I've got fake wooden eggs in there, just collecting dust. Due to construction issues (the discovery of a large yellow jackets' nest in what would be their run, which means we won't be able to dig post holes there until the weather turns and the @#$*#%^ yellow jackets move on), they don't have a run just yet, so they are stuck in the coop. At least I don't have to worry about doing any hide-and-seek for the eggs just yet

I told myself not to even THINK about getting eggs until the end of September - if any came before that, then it would just be a bonus. Well, that is not working out. I am getting reeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy excited, and I just cannot wait. I think I might have to go out and post up my own picture of Col. Sanders to get those girls motivated!

Congratulations to all of you whose girls are paying their rent... I'll just have to sit back and be patient for now, I guess.

Holy crap!! So, DH was giving me a hard time about being so impatient and silly, and he said "why don't you go check and see if there are any eggs out there now?", even though I'd only been out there to look 2 hours ago. But, because I'm excited, I went and checked.

And, what did I find? AN EGG!!

It's small, and it wasn't in the nestbox, but it is definitely a step in the right direction.

I will go ahead and join the wait as well!
I have 22 girls that I am waiting on...4 silver wyandottes, 1 red sex link, 6 easter eggers, 1 barred rock and the rest are buffs. According to the feed store I got them from they were all hatched on April 26th.
A few of the girls are pretty red, the rest still light pink.
I also a RIR rooster in with the mix.....he has decided that he is sexually mature and is attempting to get on the girls now. I have seen him on my sex link multiple times a day...she fought him to start with, but seems to have found a love interest now

Let me tell you....I was traumatized the first time I saw it, until I realized what was going on.
I am super excited to find that first egg.
Congrats to everyone that is getting eggs all ready!
