April 2021 Hatch - A - Long

One silkie hatched, two pipped.

We have a day 19 early starter. First pip is working hard this morning

Chick one hatched yesterday, chick two hatched just now, staggered hatch again! Chick three is working on it and expect this one to hatch tomorrow. Chick one with Hanabi, the little red cochin bantam who needed a friend after the rest of the hatchery chicks went to their new homes. I was surprised to see the Cochin chicks are smaller than Silkies!

Eighteen out of twenty eggs hatched!

Feathery legs and an extra toe! This one must be a favorelles mix!

Our third pip is our first to hatch. She is working on her buddies now

Mine are day 20 right now. We will see if any things happening when I get home tonight. This is our first hatch with this incubator. I hope that this incubator will be ok!

We have six hatched as of this morning. They are fluffing nicely, although one is wearing a membrane hat. I can't wait to get the incubator open and check them out but I'm trying to be very patient and give the last four eggs a shot this morning. Fingers crossed still as they were all viable and moving at lockdown. Honestly six feels like a great hatch already for shipped eggs.

Y’all! There is 1 pip out of 25 eggs! 1 pip isn’t much but it means the world that at least one has pipped. Fingers crossed more is happening when I get home!

When we were first setting the eggs in the incubator, we dropped one and gave it a hairline crack. We almost threw it away, but instead we put some liquid bandage over the crack and set it with the others. That baby hatched just fine
