April 2022 hatch-a-long (non-Easter, and Easter welcome)

Saw you started a May Hal! Do you hatch large batches like that often?

This hatch has been my largest
attempt so far. I’m pretty sure I ended up with 64 so about 80% hatch rate. Not amazing but not bad. Some of the eggs I set were kind of old so I’m guessing those were part of it. I’ve got 7 eggs sitting there that haven’t pipped & I expect they’re quitters but I’ll leave them until tomorrow in case they were just in a cool spot.View attachment 3060080
Last year when I hit production, I set 200+ eggs a week. It probably will be next spring before i reach those numbers again now that I have moved.

Well sounds like you’re off to a start at least. Moving takes a long time to recover from. I’ve been in my new place over a year now but lots of things I’m still getting sorted out.

I have in the incubator that are due to hatch by the end of this month a bunch of easter eggers and barnyard mixed chickens, some royal palm turkeys, pilgrim geese, Brahmas and some cameo peafowl eggs.

The peafowl are the most exciting part for me.
Peafowl is exciting! Have you hatched them before?

That's so exciting!

(P.S. I just had some chicks hatch; once I heard the chirp, it took about a day for them to hatch, at least for me :p)
Yeah numerous pips now so I'm guessing it'll be a wacky evening...especially with the severe storms we are supposed to have!
Prayin we don't lose power!

LUV hatch days!!!
First baby has arrived!
