April 2023 Hatch-A-Long

This is kind of fun having eggs all incubated together hatching in 3 different places. Right now the nr 360 has seven out. Brinsea only 2 and Dickey’s I’d guess 20 or so
I realized that the view into the Dickey’s isn’t actually all that bad when there aren’t any eggs in the bottom rack! The last few hatches it’s been full and I really couldn’t see anything at all.

It's a good thing that I don't have a bigger incubator--I always tell myself that this time I'm just going to set a few eggs....and I always fill up every slot.

Yes, I feel the same! I mean, it would be a waste to leave empty spaces, wouldn't it?

I don't let my eggs touch the incubator walls.

I pulled all clears (day 5 for one group, 16 eggs) and day 3 for another. (10 eggs)
I am not going to candle again until day 10. I do have to hand turn everyone.

hmmmmmm bantams have been known to hatch from day 18-21 or your heat is off and it has been a little high so cooking them a bit faster.

oh no so you are going to miss most of the hatches. I was gone for an HOUR when my first one hatched and my husband was texting my daughter, who was with me, freaking out on what he had to do, it was trying to push out of the egg, then it was that it was flopping around, then it was that it was starring at him wanting to come out etc. haahaa. he is a bit better now but not sure he is at dealing with it on his own yet. LOL

Yeah, I'm starting to think my Govee is a bit off in temperatures! It has been saying we are right at 99.5 but it requires that I have the incubator temp at 100. So I think I need to adjust things! I get way too many boys!

I know, I am going to have to spend a lot of time on the phone haha. It's even more complicated because the eggs are multiple breeds and breeders! So I had to put them in poultry bags and assign each bag a different rubber band color and hope that he gets it correct hahahaha. Should be fun! Good thing he loves me. He's also in charge of two birds with canker and 4 quail that were attacked by a rat, and a handicapped Orpington who stays in a box on my couch with me. HA!
