April 2023 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
All of you with chicks hatching, what day did you set them ?
I should mention that April's full moon was Wednesday, April 5th. According to old lore and the Farmer's Almanac, chicks which are hatched on or just before a full moon are healthier, more vigorous, and more likely to survive. I'm setting all my batches this year to coincide with a full moon. Next is May 5th, the "Flower Moon". Chicken eggs should be set between April 12th-14th for hatch May 3rd-5th.

Thanks! I have seen people on here say that you don’t start counting the 21 days until 24 hours after setting but that doesn’t seem to be the case? I’ve always been a little confused on that. I know temp can make a difference.
yes the day you set is day 0. the following day is day 1.... So if you set on a Sat then day 21 is a Sat at the same time. Since I set mine on a Sat at 8pm then tomorrow at 8pm starts my day 21........

That makes sense. I’m a dummy. So basically it is just counting like normal. Nothing special.

I sat mine at lunch on Saturday the 18th. Hoping for some action tomorrow!

yes basically, but seems that most will start that if they set on Sat then Sat they start at 1, Sun 2 etc. Instead of set on Sat then Sun 1, Mon Tue etc. Ok so you set yours a bit before me so your day 21 doesn't start till lunch tomorrow. :) Mine are just early. Sure you will hear some peeps tonight if you take any out (if no pips you can take them out and listen to the egg) then see pips when you wake up. :)

Some of the second batch of beebies! I love them! 😍🥰❤️
