I am so EGG-CITED! Finally all this Hen Fruit will make it to some happy customers rather than my family and animals gorging ourselves on eggs! YAY!!!!!! I'm interested also in maybe being a pick-up/carrier in my area! I cant wait to fill out the application! My 22 girls (and the new peeps growing fast in the brooder) will be so happy! I wonder what the requirements will be if you have a roo? My Mojo sure will be unhappy if he has to go in the pen! LOL Oh well I'll put him with his mate (Both bantam cochins) together and they can just play house and set eggs all they want! Guess then I will just have to sell Bantam Cochins to my BYC friends! :) OH WOW! My duck eggs will find homes too! YIPPIE!!!

I just wanted to update everyone. I have the BEST kids! MY oldest son, Willoughby, is 16 years old. He really tries to step up to the plate and help the family out. When he woke up this morning, I told him about me spending the $200 to buy the 20 new hens from the neighbor so we can get enough eggs to participate in the new BYC egg selling program. He is such a great kid--always helping out however he can. He has been walking along the roads ,picking up aluminum cans for 2 yrs. so he could buy a 1992 Ford F150 pick up for himself. It is his pride and joy. He told me not to worry about the $200. He said that he would just try to spend a little extra time picking up cans to cover the $200.

I also told him I was a little worried about the coop size now that we have the 20 new hens. Our current coop can house about 10-15 birds max. I don't want to be ineligible to sell my eggs through the BYC program if I don't meet the "square foot per bird" requirement.

Well, a little while ago, Willoughby drives up to our trailer with an 8x10 SHED in the back of his truck. He got it from Craig's List! In the cab of the truck is the guy who is selling the shed. I told Willoughby it is a really nice shed, but no way can we afford it. Right then and there,Willoughby signed the title of his truck over to the seller! My son and the guy unloaded the shed, and the man got in the truck and drove away. My son said, "mom, consider this an early birthday present!" Like I said I HAVE THE BEST KIDS!!!!

Who would have thought the new BYC egg selling program could be such a blessing! I know how hard my son worked to get that old truck, but he was willing to give it up to help his mama!

Depending on the details we ay be interested as well. We currently have 9 hens laying, and 6 pullets. We probably have 2-3 dozen per week extra.

I think this is a great idea and I would love to be a part of this! We currently have 15 hens that would qualify with 8 more in the brooder. Please tell me we will have a Zone Leader in the Central PA area? We never have anything great like this in our area!

Is it possible to just apply for the winter months? The co op where I sell is closed in the off produce season and I get a backlog in the winter. During Co op I get $4 a dz so want to keep selling there in the summer. I was surprized though that in your program they are willing to pay $3. Our community is trying to get our local restaurants to buy from local farmers but they want to pay wholesale (produce also) and don't realize the value of your product which is the reason I only sell direct to consumers. They want things so cheap it's worth more to me in the compost! Kudos to the program. It sounds awesome.

Was just thinking, what if someone has a flock of Red Stars? Could they all have the same name? LOL

Mahonri's your zone leader. He can probably explain all the exceptions.

I'm just wondering who will do South Ms. I just bought this thing to put in my yard so I can't be missed, LOL

This thread is growing sooo fast that I couldn't even get it all read before it had multiple more pages added! I think this program will be a winner! I would be interested if Bantam eggs are included also... maybe at less cost? or more dozens? I definately would be more inclined to EAT at a place that is using BYC eggs! This whole thing seems like a win-win-win for everyone! Great job! Break an egg!
