Don't forget the pay back from a couple of BYCers that saw through the year that BYC was going into the egg buying business. LOL OMG, people were so worried that one of the members had sold everything to buy more chickens! She came back finally and was Queen of the thread. The numbers alone would have told people that it wouldn't have been a profit for anyone.

I'd like to say thanks to those who worked so hard to keep an April fools joke running through multiple time zones. Not an easy thing to keep one side of the world from giving the game away before the other side even woke up.

I haven't read through all 17 pages but am surprised people were upset about it.

I read emails about a moose on a rampage through downtown, the premier of Alberta dying and our Prime Minister Stephen Harper holding a conference to announce his resignation all before I even finished my morning coffee.

As a new member I have to say that I am torn. I use FB frequently, mostly to keep tabs on our teenagers, and those employees who think they can complain about the boss when he is not around. FB is a good resource, true. It is a wonderful avenue for businesses, and to reach out and contact folks around the world that you may have known at one point in your life.

BYC to me is a "home". I stumbled onto your site while doing research on chickens, coops, breeds, etc. I could not sign up fast enough and have to say that I feel welcome and never get that "stupid noob" feeling when I ask a question. While growth is important to us all in every aspect of our lives, so are our chickens! The idea has merit, and when you are approached by a mogul of his magnitude you are of course going to listen. Look at the big picture. Step back and think about what made you all create this site...Who out there wants a pop ups, advertisements, pictures that may not be very family oriented? I have my concerns and share the concerns of many of the others (I have read a lot of what has been written).

I understand that this is an opportunity, and one that must be looked at very diligently and from every angle. The one thing that you have to always remember is to never pay for the same real estate twice...those of you who have been in combat will understand that more than those who have not. What I am saying is simply never give up ground and have to recover it again. What you have achieved here is amazing, wonderful, and very well rounded (IMHO). As long as you consider that, along with all of the other benefits, and take the advice from those who have been around here the longest, you cannot go wrong.

I would say this to summarize: I am a HUGE BYC fan as it stands right now. I will follow the facebawk, beakbook, or whatever you choose as a name, but will most likely spend most of my time right here. From a "noob" I thank you for what you have accomplished, I appreciate you wanting us to all move forward, but in the end, you have to take into consideration the small things, like those who rely on selling eggs for income...I step down from my box and bow to the court....

Sounds great for those who love facebook. I don't log on to facebook and avoid advertisers that make you log on to receive coupons and such. Call me old fashion, but I like how Backyardchickens.com is accessible.

If this is actually an April Fools day joke, I don't get it. Call me slow. Maybe I need a refreshers course in humor. I love good jokes and even those that fool me, especially on April Fools day.

To many, the idea of a partnership with Mark Zuckerberg must sound like BYC finding a golden egg. But in my humble opinion, it is Mr. Zuckerberg that is looking forward to getting the golden egg. In the years since I joined Facebook, I have seen change after change and have seen the ability to control my account's privacy become more and more difficult. I have seen more and more advertising being slipped in wherever they can fit it. It is now even on our photos as they are viewed. I just joined BYC and I think there is ample advertising on your site, as it is now. By welcoming Mr. Zuckerberg I believe you will find so many changes that it will inevitably drive even your most loyal subscribers away. I don't know why you think it is a necessary change unless you, too, are driven by the almighty $ and the desire to earn more from the BYC site. I, for one, hope you do NOT join into a partnership with him.
