Announcement April Fools 2016 - New Development: Chicken Feed That Changes Egg Shell Color!

No, they've all laid before. They all have had their own distinctive shell colors which is how I knew who was laying what. But then they decided to change their colors to mess me up The one that turned the "bluish" color used to be a shade of green/khaki with speckles. Funny, bc we named her as a chick, Speckles! The army green egg (olive) has now turned to a grey or sometimes light khaki. I really wish this app would let me upload my pictures. It's still refusing to let me Thanks for everyone's input!

A hens eggs will also sometimes get lighter as the season goes on when they are running low on their "pigment", same as their legs will get lighter throughout the years..whoever laid could have been having an off day as well, like when u have a regular brown layer who randomly throws a brown egg with spots, etc..

As the hens get older, & maybe running low on their egg supply, do their eggs get smaller? I have 2 hens that are in their 4th year. I still 1 that lays a jumbo white egg daily, the other lays a brown large egg, every other day. Is it possible that as her time is running out to lay that her eggs are getting smaller? I'm finding a small brown egg, instead of a large? Lots of changes in my coop these days!

Usually depending on breeds, around that age the eggs will get smaller, but I haven't known any chickens to completely quit laying because of that sign (yet).
