Day 15 Hour 3
We have the LG with fan.
Temp- has been steady at 100.4 does fluctuate +/-1. closet temp is 95.
Humidity- in incubator has been pretty low all along, 2 hygros, both read 31, it has dropped below 30 twice over past 2 weeks and I added a little water. The closet humidity has been 55-60- again, 2 hygros.
We live in florida but have had no rain last 14 days. I certainly will calibrate these hygros before our next project, as suggested. we like suggestions.
hope we all have some chicks by Friday! good luck!

Lockdown is tomorrow, hatching could start anytime after that as we all know, and I am completely unprepared. I need to find a sponge, as I have a very difficult time keeping humidity up in my little homemade cabinet bator. I also need to swipe a heat lamp from the barn (where they've been warming the hens all winter) and get a brooder set up in the laundry room. Why am I sitting here browsing the forum while I have so much to do?!?

Oh, wait...it's because I'm 7 months pregnant. I have lots of fun planning, but I am getting very uncomfortable and I have no ambition to actually "do" anything (as evidenced by the dirty dishes -- breakfast AND lunch -- still sitting in my sink, and the mountain of laundry glaring at me from the corner, and the huge pile of untended paperwork on my desk, and...I could go on and on...)

Day 14 of test hatch - Lockdown this Thursday!

Candled because I had a couple of eggs that were looking funny last time I checked them. At last candling I removed one egg (not fertile, no development whatsoever). I had three strong ones and two odd ones. The two odd ones are looking like quitters. Leaving them in for now unless they start to stink but I'm pretty sure they're done. I'll crack them after the hatch to see if I can tell what went wrong. My best guess is bacteria in the BO egg as my temps have been pretty much rock solid and it had started to develop. The other may not have been fertile - it was a little questionable from the start but it's a Marans egg so it's hard to see in there. The other three are going strong and look to be feisty little buggers judging by all the movement in there

Looking like we'll have two little Marans and a BR/Blue Copper Marans (some kind of sexlink, right?) cross come hatch day if everything goes well

hahah, oh good times. been there done that.

Lockdown for me is tomorrow, I can't believe it, it seemed to take forever for the days to go by and now, the day has come and I haven't got the brooder ready yet, yikes. where did the days go all of a sudden?
I didn't candle, so have no clue what to think, no smells coming from the incubator, so that is a good sign I guess, haha.

I also set 12 ducks under my broody hen tonite, man, like I'm not busy enough.
