APRIL FOOLS HATCH, give or take a day.....who's in ??

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy...Is the Orpington test project the "lavender" one?? I thought BBS was Blue, Black and Splash...not real good at the meaning of all the initials but can usually figure it out. So...I'm trying to figure out what test project is going on with the blue/black/splashes??

I think I'm done helping.

I unzipped the entire shell, and I tore through the membrane about halfway around. She is chirping away inside -- you can see her little egg tooth sticking out in the pic.

She's not dried out underneath the membrane; the egg is sitting on its own little damp paper towel to help keep it from drying out too much. The membrane is super-thick and appears dry and opaque on top, but still flexible (not stiffening up too much). Now that I've broken the shell away, I would think any healthy/ready chick should be able to push her way out of the membrane.

Since none of the other eggs have made any progress either, I'm guessing she's just not quite ready yet. I'll continue to watch/listen, and I'll make sure the humidity stays up (right now it's running at around 65% which is the highest I've ever had it for a hatch), but I'm not going to take any more shell or membrane away and just see what happens over the next few hours.

I helped two chicks this morning. One is doing just fine but the other has her head twisted around,I think from being stuck in shell. Not sure if she will make it. Crossing fingers. Don't know if they come out of the shell with wry neck or if she was just stuck in that position too long. She can turn the neck around. She should have been up her feet by now. She is a blk copper marans.

I have chicks hatching!! They are bantam cochins. Three so far and more coming. So far they are ALL PULLETS!! Wish I could post pictures but still to new to the forum. Happy April Fool's Day! Hoping they are all pullets..lol.

We have one CHICK!!!!! YEah...
The class decided to call her/him April.. seems pretty tired . lays down a LOT but when we knock peep or tap the glass he perks right up and peeps
Almost dry and fluffy now. Should I take it out?
NO other pips happening.. as far as I can tell

it is the beginning of DAY 23..... nothing else yet. Should we keep waiting?????

As far as the chick...I would wait till it's been at least 24 hrs since he's hatched. The more he moves around, the more likely he'll wake up some of the others and cheer them on to come out. And I would give it until day25 before you give up. But that is just my opinion. I'm so glad you have a chick! Congrats! Hope you get LOTS more

Hope they are ok. I'm interested in the English Orps. What color do you have?

blue black and splash. I recently got a 100% blue english rooster. the eggs in the bator are by a 75% splash english roo out of some blue and black girls. the ones I am hatching are to go under my blue roo.
