I have cheeps
wee.gif
I was getting ready to move them over to the hatcher and I guess I don't get to see much because I'm leaving them alone adding more water thru my air holes and looking in that small hole
barnie.gif
I so wanted to be able to see more. I put the eggs in at 9:30 am on 3/16 so I think it could be 21 days tomorrow I was thinking 20 because I had 2 sets of shipped eggs and I put the others in at 11:30 pm. Maybe it's better I can't see very much you have trained me to just leave them babies alone.... When I candled them Sat I did see some chicks but not all of them were moving I am going to go crazy
barnie.gif
I did peek this morning humidity was 63% so I'm just making sure that channel stays full of water. I can only see maybe 8 of the 40 eggs that are in there 3 of those I don't think will hatch I only took out 1 it was clear a Marans those dark eggs are hard to tell but I didn't see an air sack....I'm sure to be up early I can hear them now

I have 3 silver penciled rock bantams drying off and a couple more pipped. Humidity is good so hopefully I get a bunch more chicks the D'uccles should start hatching tonight. Hope to get a good number of each breed. I will get pictures once the hatch is done.

I have one chick walking around the official greeter. I have more pips I think another one is almost out and I am looking in a peep hole

I was so hoping to put them to hatch where I could see

and I shouldn't open it until Wednesday morning? This is killin me

I'm so confused about mine. Set two dozen to hatch on the 21st. Set another dozen last Tueday. All in one incubator. So worried about flipping batch three and needing to lockdown batch one and two. Oughta be interesting.

So not only do I have 42 eggs in the bator (30 or more are being sold)... my lil bantam Chipmunk is broody and she had a hidden nest in the neighbors yard, I noticed she was missing last night and when I was feeding the flock this morning she came walkin up. So I sat out there and

her til she got done eattin, saw where she walked back too and knew she had a nest. Had the neighbors get her and she wasnt too happy... she has 8 eggs and I really have no idea when she laid them. Later tonight I'll candle a couple. I'm very excited............

Shes not happy about being moved, but I made her a dark area in the coop and shes sittin back on the eggs

you have an automatic turner? How are you going to do lock down? This is a sickness...I had to buy another incubator and I fixed up a hatcher which I didn't get to use because when I got the humidity high enough I couldn't get my temperature right so right now mine are hatching and I can't see
barnie.gif

my neighbor's banty used to lay her eggs up on a shelf in our pumphouse over my head I don't know how she was planning on getting the chicks down from there.......but the eggs were safe I guess the chicks needed flying lessons....we moved them down and they hatched so we could have more chickens that they didn't keep home

It's so fun reading this thread!

I got the call today! One Dorking is hatching!

I'm out of town at work and the Dorkings I put in lockdown on Sat. are hatching!
wee.gif

My "sitter" called very excited to tell me about the pip and chirping she saw/heard when she came to check on my critters (babes in brooders, dogs, cats and other critters). She fed the dogs, chased my "tween" chicks back into the coop (my 1 month olds squeezed through a crack in the mobile coop), came back in and the baby was zipping!
clap.gif
She cheeped in conversation with the baby but had to leave before the event was over. I'm DYING to know if it's out!!!!!

I have to wait until tomorrow when my shift is over. This is a loooooong shift knowing I have babies being born without me!

Fingers crossed, fingers crossed. Today is day 20 from the day the hen went broody. How am I going to concentrate on work while I know this is going on? Can I tell my co-workers sorry, I have to leave because I'm having babies today?

So glad to see so many chicks are hatching!! I have hope this time around! My temps fluctuate as low as 98 and as high as 103 but most times I catch it.. The high temps get caught a lot faster than the low temps because I'm normally sleeping when the temp drops.. I'm not sure how long it goes unnoticed but as soon as I wake up, I plug all holes and throw a blanket over the top to bring the temps back up.. I set on the 25th and have only lost 5 out of 36 (two were scrambled and one was cracked) so if you count that, I've only lost two that were viable.. There was one that was just too dark (americauna) when I candled on day 7 (thursday) and I went ahead and candled it today again.. I THINK I saw veins!!
wee.gif
... I also spot checked 4 others since the temp was a tad high (100.8) and they were all doing backflips!! I am so excited!! Set in the AM so only 6 days and a few hours left til lockdown!!! I am going to candle all of them on Thursday and hope to see lots of dark spots and no blood rings!!!
