I am in! I am gathering tomorrows eggs to add to yesterday and today's and putting them in my bator Wednesday morning... this will be my frist hatch this year and first time hatching my own eggs. These eggs are from chickens I hatched out last spring. They are a mix of Buff Orp., Welsummer, BR and RIR.

Well I have bantam columbian wyandottes due 2 April 4th,4 April 8th and 5 April 13th.WELL minus 1.The kid's decided to let the grandbaby runamuck today while We were outside and he got in bedroom opened the bator and took 2 egg's out and broke one due the 13th BAAAAAAAA. Poor lil guy he watches and learns fast and he knows where the chickie's are coming from bless his little heart.He's only 18 months and he already has a pet Roo named Buddy An OE and he is going out now to go to the coops and see the bird's.Remind's me of my oldest grandson a few years ago before I had my Sportsman(which I don't have now baaa).He watched me put water in bator and he decided to help by putting hawwaiin punch in water tray.WANNY I watered ur wikkies lol.All of those eggs still hatched lol. I got the few in hatcher now so will update on those.

I'd love to hear from someone with a successful track record with their LG. I check in every day or so and notice the others' problems with LG's inconsistency (heat/humidity).
Do the styrofoam hovabators create such headaches, too? I'm trying not to touch mine except to add h20 every few days.

My broody Splash Orp. has been on the nest (8 eggs) since 3/19 and my 13 BCM for me and a mix of 9 brown eggs (Orp, RIR, BR, SLW) for a friend have been set in bator since 3/20. It'll be interesting to see if Mother Nature is more successful (the other girls occasionally bump Prima Donna out to lay-as of now there are 4 add'l eggs to the original 8). Wishing I marked her eggs early on so I could remove the recent additions-still learning.

When the eggs first go in, they have their own moisture or absorb more moisture & they become a "heat sink" holding heat so, that creates changes that usually settle down within a day. When the "lockdown" occurs where the lid is no longer opened until after hatch & the humidity is raised (in my case it's to 55%) there are temp & humidity changes that I have to watch for a day. You'll just have to monitor closely & make only minor adjustments at a time, so you don't get spikes.

Check out page one of this thread, you may be interested in reading the "dry incubation" method info that I use. From Days 1-17 my humidity is at around 40% to 42% or so & during lockdown it goes up to around 55%. You might want to calibrate your hygrometer also to get a truer reading. At day 7 or 10 you will get to see if the eggs are developing & put your mind at ease more. Good luck, enjoy the process!

I have seen several people posting that they are using those, sometimes alone & sometimes along with a digital. Whatever you use, calibrate it! Check out page one of this thread for calibration instructions on my post. It can be done overnight with a gallon ziplock bag, small container of water & salt (kosher is best, from grocery store); then do the math & you'll know what your true reading is. I'm in

4 hens setting 60 guinea eggs due to hatch threw out the month of april.

1 scovy duck setting 8 eggs due to hatch around 4/14.

1 peking duck setting 6 eggs due sometime in april.

15 guinea eggs and a few duck eggs in little giant going into lockdown on april 2nd.

40 guinea eggs in hovabator 3/28

270 chicken eggs set in sportsman on 3/25

My guineas are still laying in the pasture and but i am no longer collecting their eggs so may be seeing keets from them in april also.

Well, I stuck some eggs under three broodies this last week. 1 a few days ago and the other 2 broodies got eggs yesterday. Forgot to count how many or which kinds. They will be due around April 19th. I have another batch in the bator that will be due around April 11th, I think.

I do have 6 eggs from a March batch that are due around April 2nd. Forgot to move them to the hatcher this morning so will do it after work. 5 split Lav/Mille cochin eggs and 1 white leghorn mix.
