Well now, last night another bantam started to pip but hasn't progressed very far today. BUT, 4 of the Dels ahve started to pip. 2 were stored pointy side up and 2 down. Today would be day 21 if you count the day of set as 1. Chick from last night doing ok but lonely I expect. I have two older Lav. Amer's in the brooder nextdoor and it stays near that side of the brooder. Clear plastic totes.

Just went into lock down started out with 132 eggs candled them and now down to 80. post start hatching the 30th

I'll be setting a whole bunch of eggs in a few days.......chicken and duck (of course separate bators). Right now I have 2 bators filled with staggered hatches of chicken/duck eggs. Today my very first Blue Slate turkey poult hatched (the parents are Declan and Dierdre.....my only 2 turkeys....so far).

I would like to do turkeys but I have no room and then too what would I do come thanksgiving? Plus I've done so much reading about chickens I'd have to do all the research for turkeys. Please don't get me started on turkeys. OK? I do hope your hatches are good and you post lots of pics. I love pics.

Heck... I'm still learning about chickens too!!! I only started hatching/raising them less than a year ago. Ducks I know more about...been raising them 8+ years. I bought the turkey eggs from out of the blue last Spring....I just loved their blue coloration. It turns out that both of my adults are the Black phase in coloration. It looks as though the poult is Blue. I'm still learning about turkeys. They are pets, like the rest of my flock, and hopefully livelong,happy lives.

well we are finally done with our hatching for April and here is how it ended:

2 hatched of our own new hampshire red x white leghorn
3 hatched out of rhode island reds we bought from here

of the ones that didn't make it, they had developed but never pipped. most had even absorbed the yolk or almost all of it. our lockdown day was on april 21st, 1st one pipped on april 24th and the very last one to pip was on april 26th monday night! it seems once they pipped it took all of them very long to hatch out...three died during pip also. if anyone has any suggestions or reasons why this might happen i'd love to hear advice

this was definitely a better experience hatching then in march

There have been so many beautiful hatches in the last few days by incubators & broodies. I've been "under the weather" & doing better now, happy to catch up on what's happening. Lots of different chickies born & many great pics too. Congrats to: lotsapaints, nyseman, twinlights, wolftracks, KellyHM, vfem, jophoto, Kristian, rancher hicks, harrig 6167, PandoraTaylor, Sundown Waterfowl, leeandtina (hope I didn't miss anyone & spelling is a least close). The chicks are such a joy (& poults too). So happy for you all!

Ustream is the only one I know of, maybe someone else has a suggestion.
