Congrats on your babies! They are sooo sweet!2 more hatched last night, a Campbell and a full-blooded Rouen. That brings us up to 7 out of 8 eggs. 1 last huge campbell egg is waiting to hatch. It pipped through the shell last night, and it is making good breathing sounds. I'll keep my fingers crossed! The ducklings came home from the preschool today, and they are getting comfortable in the brooder now.

Here's the brooder! It won't be entered into a beauty contest, but most of the material I used was either scrap or free. It will serve it's purpose. Soooo this morning when I took the top off my incubator to turn the eggs, I notice that two are wobbling by themselves and I heard a little faint "cheep cheep"!!!! I candled that one in my dark room, and it's pipped through! YAY! I guess this means they are going on lock down tonight. I'm beyond excited!

Well, I'm on day 24. I'm starting to get a bit antsy about the hatch. I never worry too much about anything and now I'm stressing. At last candle I had a cayuga/rouen egg that had an air cell that appears to be way too small. All the others look great. Time will tell.
The last few days of my hatches have literally caused me sleepless nights. It is thrilling and anxiety inducing all at the same time. The preschool teachers at my daughters school (where I took this batch to hatch) felt the same way about these eggs, even though the eggs were only there for just the last 3 days of the incubation! I think this is a pretty common feeling, so you are in good company. You've brought them this far and they're doing well, but at some point it is up to them to do the rest.

My 8th egg of 8 hatched last night! We have been very fortunate with this hatch! The last egg was larger than the rest, it had the pale, white color of a campbell egg,the hatchling does not look like a Campbell, though. I'll post a photo later, but the duckling is a little bigger, it has a blue or silver color, and it has a crest, and it took 30 days to hatch. hmmm...
