April Hatch Along

Pics
I think my biggest question is, I know it's going to be pretty near impossible for me to sit on my hands once hatch starts. So is there a good resource that explains what is normal and what isn't, so that if I do intervene, I do so at an appropriate time?

pete55 has posted a Very informative and detailed explanation of the incubation and hatching process, here are 2 that I found quite useful.

the 2nd one below uses geese eggs but pete55 incubates many kinds of avians, including endangered ones - he states that the actual process by which any bird goes through the physical hatching process is the same whether a chicken or an exotic macaw...

Just moved these into one hatcher.

400

My other hatcher has 20 chicken eggs and 10 turkey eggs.

Should be a thurs/fri hatch.

My Seramas, and Gotro17's Biels are happily incubating in one Incubator. I got some Lavender Orpington and some Tolbunt Polish eggs today, plus Gotro17's Maran eggs also arrived today. I'll set those on Wednesday. One more set of eggs should ship tomorrow. Those should arrive on Friday. If I set those on Monday, I'll keep a 5 day window between the 3 staggered hatches. Could be interesting!!

Let's go chickies!!!

Great!! I also like doing the 5 day differential between hatches - this last one was too tight for my comfort. Had to quickly whisk away the CLs, clean out all their shells and their liner, put a new liner in (so there wouldn't be a bunch of hatching goo from the previous batch) and then set them for hatching. I told myself, as my bator was open mid-lockdown and I was letting precious humidity escape, that it was as if the broody hen just got off her eggs (even on day 19!!), went to take a dust bath, get a little something to eat and take a gigantic poop, and the eggs are going to be just fine! :)
