April Hatch Challenge....

I am expecting Buff Orpingtons. I currently have 8 hens (about 6-7 months old) and one buff rooster. Once I get the hang of this "incubation thing" I would like to add a few different types to my flock. The 23 in the other incubator are also Buffs.....

Mine were supposed to hatch yesterday...I haven't heard anything, no pips, nothing. This was my first try...failure I'm afraid. How long should I wait before I take them out and chuck them...(it's kinda sad, almost like a death, even though they never hatched)..

Your wife and my husband can get together and comiserate.

I'm sure he'll be happy when he gets home next week and finds out I'm moving the dining table aside so I can move the brooders in there. I figure it'll be good to get them out where the dogs can get used to them and learn that they are "family".

Don't worry, they are securely caged, and the Chessie doesn't care, quick sniff, moving on... The lab watches them like the kids watch tv. But she doesn't want to get to them, just fascinated by all the movement.

Good luck on the hatch.
