i have 59 button quail eggs...though not all will hatch as they are shipped eggs. 30 of them are due to hatch the 13th the other 29 on the 14th

So I now have 7 blk astrolope chicks in the brooder and one that just hatched out now. They are doing great I've only lost one so far! They are so cute hopping around under the heat and I love when they lie on their sides and soak up the heat:) haha

My first hatch! Today is day 21...so exciting! I had four pipped eggs last night, one hatched this morning, one this afternoon and one just a few minutes ago! There are 15 in the bator a mix of some I picked up at the poultry show and my own hens (My eggs are the BR). So far two barred rock and a Cochin! Looks like another barred is starting to zipper...all the other eggs are still so quiet...I bought a forced air incubator from my local co-op, with an automatic turner. Kept the temp at 99.5/100 as best as I could and the humidity was around 50 days 1-18, been keeping it close to 70 since lockdown (it jumps up to about 80 when one hatches, and slowly goes back down) I took the turner out day 18 too.

I wasn't any good at candleing, I read all I could on here but I really don't have a good idea if all 15 developed well? there were some obvious yes and some I was ?? and I threw out four that were obviously not fertilized at day 8.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

I have a shipped egg PIPPING!!!

Hi, my first post!

I am incubating eggs for the first time. I am a newbie to the whole chicken thing but it is very addictive! We recently had a chicken (Australorp) go broody so I purchased a few eggs and she hatched 3. It was a great experience. Those babies are 3 weeks old now. I am incubating 14 araucana x white leghorns from my own chickens. We are on day 4 and after candling last night I can see the spider veins in 12 of them. 1 was put in the next day and the other I think is no good. I have had a few worries with the eggs being porous but after comparing some photos on this site I think they are ok and not actually porous. This incubating thing is a little stressfull! It was so much easier when the hen was doing all the work!
