Yeah Barnyard Mixes! I don't know that I will ever try shipped eggs. I think our elevation, plus shipping would be quite a challenge; something that I need more experience for anyway. For now, I will stick with the home grown eggs.

I moved my broody Squeak today and OMG!!! you would have thought I was breaking the girl in half or something worse by how loud she was screaming. She could have scared a dinosaur. At first it was just the "I'm not happy about this."squawks but when I went to put her in her new nest box it turned to "HE'S TRYING TO KILLING ME!!!!" screams.
It literally made my hair stand on end. This wasn't the cluck-cIuck-cluck-kiiing mad hen either she was convinced her life was about to end. Poor silly little girl. I may have to rename her after this. LOL![]()
Then she wouldn't sit on her eggs for like an hour but now she has settled in. I'll leave her be for the rest of today.
Another silly happening with my broodies today was Cornelia got off her eggs for only 2minutes to stretch her legs but she has to have some nasty cramps cuz she gets off walks about 4 steps tries to stand up strait and just stops like half way up. Then in extra slow motion she sinks right back down to her belly. Then that was it. She turned around and waddled like a duck back to her eggs. It made me laugh. You gotta love the everyday suprises of raising animals.
I don't have any broodies yet, but I'm totally looking forward to it! I'd much rather have the hen hatch the eggs than stick them in the 'bator.
I love broodies... have three right now and just got in from exchanging eggs.... the dummies she was on for some goose eggs..... she was peeved to say the least, but she is a good girl and I did not loose any fingers! some go mental on you for even thinking about looking at their eggs!
and try to MOVE them! HA! I creep in, in the middle of the night....and then worry for the rest of the night that the screams of terror from my hen will draw the cyoties!!! but they do stay put on their eggs.... most of the time!![]()
