An up-date on my next hatch.... I set the Sussex and Sultan eggs this morning (I could not find air cells in any) ... and got the citron hamburg eggs waiting to go in tonight............VERY DISSAPOINTED IN MY HAMBURG EGGS!!!!! 1st they are super tiney... the size of bantams eggs!....NO SMALLER than bantam eggs!!!!!! and the breeder assured me they are standard size... which I am now doubting, or if they are then they are from young birds, or they are the smallest egg laying hamburg EVER!..... They are also dirty!!!!!!!!!!!

and I cannot tell AT ALL which side is the big end as both sides are identicall!!!!

they are marked so I went with how she marked them..... I can see no air cells in any of them, BUT one had air bubbles!!!! AIR BUBBLES!!!!! I only got 4 eggs and she sent NO EXTRAS and I paid like 30$ for them!!!

only because I thought they were standard size and I could not find ANY standard size anywhere......

SO WHATEVER..... maybe I will be plesently surprised in 3 weeks.......... Also I have a hight powered light comming for candeling eggs as I think mine is way to soft ......... I mean I should have seen air cells in the eggs that are 7 days old right????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Ha ha you got lucky dip eggs like me!!!!!!!! - Mine are still blue no matter which way up we turn them so Dorkings they certainly are not? But what are they? Who knows we will see? If anything hatches. I didn;t bother looking for air sack or candling I just bunged them into the bator and voila something will or will not be there in the end?

Want to report on the hatch I nearly threw in the garbage..............

I have no idea why they hatched.nothing went right.temp problems caused humidity problems.............
Went into lockdown nothing until day 23...now have 7 chicks from 11 eggs..............
Going to give the rest a few more just in case days..............
I had even pulled the eggs out and listened with a stethoscope several times during lock down.......
not a sound.really thought they were dead........
Fooled me the little devils.....................

1st) eggs are TINY!!!!!!!!!! and they certainly do NOT look like LF they look like mini bantam eggs
2nd) the are DIRTY!!! two are VERY dirty, one is kinda dirty and one is clean
3rd) TINY eggs, DIRTY eggs, EXPENSIVE eggs, and NO EXTRAS ( would not be a big deal if they were clean and the right size)

I dont want to be mean, or disrespectful, it will do no good.... but I am VERY, VERY VEXED and dont know how to handle this.... am I overreacting?????
What do I say and how do I say it???????????

Your not overreacting at all, you should complain and explain the issues you have with the eggs over the phone or in an email, ask for either a refund or more eggs of better quality. In future its best to have a list of questions prepared for the seller when buying eggs such as how do they package them? Do their hens lay them in nesting boxes or just the ground outside?, how old are the laying hens, will they write the laying date of each egg on them with pencil e.t.c.

No, i don't think you were overreacting, you have a good reason to be upset. I know i would be too.I would just nicley ask them if they accidently mixed up the eggs they were supposed to send you, even if you know that they didn't so that you can get around to mentioning or implying that the eggs were pretty small. And i don't know how I would ask them why there eggs are dirty. Well that what i would do about the first problem, but i dont know how i would ask about the rest. Hoped that helped!

Day 7 on my other 12 eggs...I'm so excited about seeing what's happening with them. I finally got the temp and humidity to hold steady, I'm sure having such huge swings in the weather hasn't helped either! But we are topping out at around 70 degrees as the high and around 50's for the low (weather) so I think we are cooking now

Anna-as other's suggested just simply ask did you send me the right eggs? If they did say well the reason being is that they are so small I wanted to make sure, then say is there anyway that I can get another half dozen or so to equal out of what I paid you, say you were under the impression that the eggs were being laid by LF and would like to feel you were able to get your monies worth of eggs. Of course be as sweet as pie when saying it. I will say this-you've encountered your first BUT not only problem with shipped eggs from ppl you don't know. It's a shame that ppl are sticky stinkers but they just are.

Day 20. my two lonely eggs were wiggling like crazy on day 16 then the power cut for only an hour and no more wiggles, cant hear anything so guessing they haven't internally pipped and really have a bad feeling about them. I'll see how it goes, u never know i guess.

How exciting! I'm rooting for a good hatch for you! I'm on day 9 of my Marans eggs too . I'm lowing the humidity this time because as I weigh them, they are not seeming to lose enough weight...12-15% of weight...hoping they will be able to turn on day 14! SO excited for this hatch !!
