Aprons on chickens

Pine tar can be good for wounds and kind of as an anti-pecking goop.
I'd not cover those bare back with it tho.
Leave the saddles off and see what happens.
Bare backs bother keepers more than the chickens.
 
Why not put it on the bald backs? The OP said there was a bullying issue going on, so the pine tar would stop that and let the feathers grow back. This worked for me when my chickens kept pulling each other's pin feathers out after their first molt.
 
I would be inclined to just leave the skin bare for now if they were mine. If the rooster did the damage and is gone then there’s no reason to expect the hens will pull feathers from each other’s backs until you see it happening. Perhaps you could have something in reserve just in case though.
