Those of you that are running an AP system and have been doing so for a while might be able to help us out. I'm putting the pumps in today after work and suddenly realized that with the amount of sand that our duck tracks into the lower pond (where the fish are now) our pump isn't going to last long. I'd considered just putting the intake hose up at the surface on a flexible connection but have read that I need the heavier waste and solids from the bottom of the tank to properly feed the plants and of course that's where all the sand settles.
Any help on a very cheap filtration idea?
