Aquarium sand for dust bath?

Alright, so super weird question!
I have an aquarium hobby and I have several extra bags of SeaChem flourite black sand just sitting around.
I also have 3ish week old chicks that want to dust bathe!

This aquarium sand is a "porous clay gravel" that has not been treated or coated in any way. Could I use this to introduce the chicks to dust baths instead of going out and buying a big bag of sand?

Hi,hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

You could just bring in a clump of dirt from outside, grass and all... If they weren't Marek's vaccinated (otherwise mind the quarantine time). It helps give them a little exposure to the things in your soil and build some immunity before they go out full time. And they do love it.

I would THINK your aquarium sand SOUNDS safe. But I'm not truly sure.

Pics always welcome! ;)

That would be like washing your dog with Perrier. You can do it, sure, but why would you?!

Dirt is as cheap as, well, dirt. I just scoop some from the yard. Or get a sack of construction sand if you want sand. It's about $4 for a big bag.
