Aracana or Easter eggers

It's the other way around. EE's are not a recognized breed they are bred for egg color. They were developed mainly from Aracaunas wish are rumpless breed of chickens named from an Indian tribe in Chile...Ameracaunas also a breed developed from Aracaunas but are recognized. Nothing wrong with EE's at all unless you were planning to show them. They are my favorite backyard chickens no 2 exact the same and various colored eggs. Nothing at all bad about EE's just that a lot of feed stores or hatcheries sell them as Ameracaunas when they are not.

Since both Aneracaunas and Anacuana started from the EE why do they give the EE such a bad name?
I think it’s the other way around. EEs get the bad rep all the time as they are more common and often passed as the rarer, more expensive breeds to those who don’t know the difference and shell out the cash for them.

They don't have a bad name, the sellers do. I love EEs, great friendly birds with beautiful eggs. The sellers on the other hand mislabel their chicks and those who aren't who of the EE/Americana and Ameriraucana/Araunca switch end up with something different than expected. Hopefully I don't sound too pessimistic, often the sellers don't know any better and that's just the name it had. We usually just offer our condolences because it wasn't expected or they might have paid more for it thinking it was, or something.

I got an EE thinking it was an Ameraucana, I was skeptical but eh, it didn't matter to me because I just wanted a different color than brown. She's incredibly friendly and let's me muss up her tufts, just laid her first minty egg yesterday.

Edit: X2 on it being the other way around, EEs often have blood from those two breeds, but the two breeds weren't developed from them.

Definitely EEs, I bought some couple of years ago from mail in catalog marketed as Araucana but I knew it’s EEs.

So you only have one? I got 6 from different sources and different age hoping for blue eggs, here’s the closest I got. OP might get encouraged when eggs coming.
Only one easter egger the rest are BO, RSL and a GLW. I was just lucky I guess, I just wanted a colored egg and mint is fine by me(it's more intense, the lighting is bad). I was really worried I'd get a white or brown egg after all was said and done. I hope you get that blue egg though! One day
