Araucana breeders: Can you believe this? Should we all flag or report

I have 1 Americana and 2 Araucana's. They are very different birds in every aspect but the Americana's still have some attractive eggs to offer.

I think my Americana lays more consistently than the Araucana's will when they start laying about a month from now. I get 4 to 5 eggs weekly from my Americana and they are light green to light blue eggs depending on the day.

They are interesting eggs even though they are not blue most of the time. The Americana is much more aggressive than the Araucana's, but that may be an age thing for now, we will see. The aggressiveness is not bad, just that she doesn't take any crap from the other chickens like the Araucana's do.

Don't discount Americana's, they are a wonderful bird and have very nice qualities of their own, not to mention easier to find for sale and far less expensive, in my case she was given to me for free and began laying eggs on the very first day I brought her home.

They were probably bought from one of the fine hatcheries that know all about chicken as ARUCANA, therefore that must be what they are. The rare hard to find white Arucana is hard to find especially the ones that give the pink egg instead of the blue or brown or cream egg. That must be what makes these so special. Not only that look at the tails on those Arucana you dont see a tail like that every day.

After reading the CL ad, I thought it was at the least misleading and IMHO is also deceptive, so I've gone ahead and flagged it as prohibited. I wouldn't want to be a newbie who paid that much $ and found out the birds might be worth a tenth of the amount and wouldn't want anyone else to be either.
If the person who posted it is honest, they'll need to deal with CL and they'll need to back it up with facts. At least the selling of the birds at outrageous prices will stop with the ad poster (unless, of course, they are con artists and try to pull a fast one and post it again with an altered title;
stuff like that just ticks me off!

Many thanks.

Hey, do you live near me? I'm in the Palm Springs area.

Oh.... the chickens are cute but if I knew my white EE was worth $150 I'd have been more careful with the hawks

I was wondering the same. I am nearby as well. Beautiful EEs...not worth $150! I am glad the ad was flagged! When you flag an ad, does it allow you to give a reason why? (ehh...such as those aren't rare?)

No, you just flag in a category, like spam, over post, miscategorized. Well, I did, but now I feel that I probably should have just called and let them know. However, you cannot educate everybody and on the other hand, whoever is willing to pay that much money should be educated enough about the breed, so I actually calmed down since my original first post.

I love all my birds, no matter what breed, but at least I know if they are pure bred or Designer Chicken and I would never mislead anybody.

I am not near Palm Springs, but in beautiful San Diego. Oh, and BTW: I have REAL Ameraucana....
