Araucana Chicken show- ends 24/02/19

I"M First!!!!
This is Ashoka. She's a clean faced white araucana pullet. Fun fact... Um... she's got an awesome personality, but I was very disappointed when she laid green eggs, before the winter shut down. She's pictured with her EE sister (black breasted red aruacana over lavender ameraucana)

This is Napoleon, a tufted white araucana rooster. He'll be 3 this spring. Fun Fact... He's my first rooster, I bought him at 2 yrs old, and I think he's an awesome addition to my flock, especially because he's so sweet to his girls and respectful to the humans and dog. He's never shown a smidge of aggression, even when he was new to the flock and eyed everything that happened, including my daughter's struggle snuggles with each of the hens and pullets. Trust me, I watched him closely when she did this to make sure there were no issues.

Love your Araucana cock! How did you become interested in the breed?

I actually went to a local breeder, who is also a BYC-er, looking for barnevelders. She has silvers which I find so striking. She also has the lavender ameraucana and the araucana, and when I went to get barnie chicks I had to grab one of each instead. LOL They were straight run, and I got three pullets. Well, I decided sometime after that I wanted to get a rooster, and she contacted me to tell me she was scaling back for a bit, and did I want anybody. At first I was interested in her red breasted black, the father of my EE, but she didn't want to give him up. I grabbed Napoleon instead. I figure that, since I have a completely mixed flock anyway, I could sell EE eggs and my araucana pullet's as pure.

I should add... I'll be able to sell EE eggs, if the man can figure out how to line things up right, especially on my big girls. LMAO! He tries... Lord does he try, but I'm not sure its happening yet. LOL There was one time I wish I'd had my phone out and filming, cause he mounted my buff brahma but she wasn't feeling it. She'd squatted initially, but decided that she wasn't interested right now and got up and started running away, with him on top of her. He looked like a cowboy riding a bronc, holding on for dear life as she ran away! Until she bucked him off. Funniest thing I've seen in a while, well... you guys get it. My husband wasn't as amused as I was.

Ok it confused me when it a said 24 as the month and 2 because the second has gone by
Actually, we're the weird ones here in the US. The rest of the world does Day/Month/Year. And actually, our military does as well. It confuses me so much, since I spent 11 years of my adult life doing it this way. Now, I do Number/Word(month)/Number because its so confusing. My birthday is on the 8th of my month, so I've actually had them mess up my birthday at work because they thought I was born in August.
