Can anyone tell me what color araucanas these chicks might be. The are from my rooster Fred:

All of my hens are black.

I don't know if these chicks are any standard colors or not. I'm sorry the pictures aren't the best, my camera doesn't like to focus on chicks for some reason. So far I was just keeping black chicks, but I might play around with these if they resemble a standard color.

The little black chick will most likely look similar to the male or female parents. He does look like he picked up a gene called dark brown. I can not say much more because I am not sure of his E locus genotype. If he is not carrying the extended black gene the bird will leak red or silver. The black chick's down color looks birchen (like the male). The down color on the other two chicks does not look like the down of a black bird they look like they are eb or brown.

I have had chicks the same color produce a pseudo autosomal barring then feathered in black. You never know- they could be a brown phenotype -like a dark brown leghorn or become a black bird.

You will have to wait and see.

What coloration is Fred? I used to have a rooster Happyfeet who looked just like him and I would like to get another.
Where did you purchase him?
