I can't tell if this Araucana is a hen or not. She has a lot of gold around her neck and big tail feathers which looks rooster like to me but these are my first chickens so I have no real basis for saying that.

Here's another pic of he/she from a week ago...is it normal for Easter eggers to have bigger tail feathers?

When I was stumped about one of my chicks, an expert on the board said than roosters neck feathers become more prominent than a hen, which looks like it here. However, I'm not an expert on breeds, so these neck characteristics may be normal for a hen.

I'm pretty sure your EE is a pullet. EEs in generally tend to have upright stances and tails. You can usually tell their gender by the color patterns. Girls will have even pattering and males will be splotchy with white or red patches on the shoulders

I'm glad to hear this- i jumped the gun and named her Amelia a while ago and she's my favorite. The only thing that worried me was her tail feathers but at almost 12 weeks, her comb is still yellow.

:welcome

That's absolutely a pullet. She's quite pretty with the blue "undercoating"!

she's beautiful she looks like what they call a lavender Americana here in Arizona.forgive me for spelling of the breed incorrectly.
I sure wish I could be in Spokane I was born up there but I was never there very long, up to 18 months of age. In Mesa it's very hot here now 106 today I believe.;)
