After months and months of calling the tufted black hen "the tufted black hen" she has a name. An old episode of Star Trek inspired me last night. Her name is now T'Pau (pronounced t-POW):

I saw the picture first and I thought: “She named one of the birds Maleficent”.

I changed my Facebook profile to a "page". I just spent an hour trying to figure out how to invite people to like it. It appears you can only invite "friends". So if any of you want to "like" my page it is under Eel River Araucanas.

Family outing! This was the first day Mama had her chicks out of the coop. Both Manolito and Lil Girl helped watch over them. (That's not leakage on Mano, that's just his shiney-ness).

Has anyone noticed how early Araucanas go to roost in the evenings, or is it just mine? All mine go in about an hour earlier than the other breeds.

I'm really liking how this little cockerel is turning out. He's the lone chick Ratchet hatched out back in July. He's a Mano x Mama chick. He isn't tufted, but he has beautiful dark legs, nice body type, and a much tighter comb than Mano and MJ had at that age. Hopefully it stays small. His mottling is decent, too. I'm thinking about keeping him if I have the room. I'd like to keep him with Ratchet since she doesn't get along with anyone and she has nice bigs tufts.

Ahsoka is broody! Part of me wants to get eggs and give them to her, and part of me is worried, since this is her first time.

Do we know anybody who does eggs? Erm... in a timely fashion?
