Araucana thread anyone?

Yep, there is a breeder her in CA who is working on the Mille Fleur in the bantam. I had one but I gave her to a friend. I had hopes of getting the color in large fowl, but she never laid an egg, so didn't do me any good.

Here is a pic of mine.

I will see if I can find it. Her name is Karen L something. I am so awful. She is the nicest person and I am horrible with names. She is in Placervill, CA I believe.

Hm... I wonder how hard it would be to create Mille Ameraucanas with these birds...

Sorry, wrong thread!

Very hard.

Araucanas have yellow skin, which is a recessive trait, so it will haunt your future generations if you don't breed it out, which takes a lot of work. Also, there's the green legs to avoid, the muffs/beard to re-establish without having to face the cleanfaced issue popping up in future generations, and of course also size. You need that to work its way up there. And, third, Araucanas have a pretty good sized cushion and posterior shape. . . Ameraucanas have a more forward shape, a little less of a cushion.

But if you really want to try it out, use Wheaten Ameraucanas. . .

They're the most accepting color to Mille Fleur in the Ameraucana varieties.
