Araucana thread anyone?

No, I mean...I took 2 EEs that were with an Ameraucana cock and put them in with my Araucana cock.
I thought it would be up to 3 weeks. I'll find out. I hatch weekly!

Thanks for the info. I do know at 4 weeks for sure.

Alright, here are my 3 week old chooks! (more pics later to come. . )

There are still the chipmunks I'm unsure on if they're BBR or Gold or Silver Duckwing though, and one of my superiorly tufted chicks I have no clue of being white or Splash. . .

This tufted pullet started out solid black, but now is feathering in as a red-smudged black.

One of the three well-tufted ones. This one MAY be white, and likely to be splash

This shot really shows why I think it is white. Gary does have both white and splash

My "blue cuckoo" pair is still feathering possibly the fastest, and still looks like an odd "mock barring"

Absolutely adorable chicks!
Gary does have some wonderful birds. Most of mine came from him to start me off. I am fortunate to live close enough that I was able to drive down and get them. It was great to meet him and talk in person. I really like him and he is full of great info.

Beautiful birds!! I"m happy to see that you name them properly. Ketros, (or Quetros)and colloncas, their ancient indian names.

Thank You Kano!

How's about you sending me more of these beauties!

I have mostly mongrels ("country chickens", we call them , down here.Mostly are blue/green layers like many of these chickens,,,). This splash, "collonca de aretes ", a pullet, is the best I can show, with a little of shame....

And this little black ketro. (can you see the earing? ) sorry , the pics, are not the best....

I was just poking around over at the Araucana Breeders Club forum and saw a post by a breeder where he mentioned that he trims his breeding chickens, and was expecting it to increase his fertility. I guess it is sometimes a technique employed by Araucana breeders.

Was sitting out earlier with my one flock of araucana, snapping a few pics here and there and just watching them enjoy another beautiful day here in the great north east........

Never no trimming needed here...We breed naturally only...
