This a barred I think. I thought he was a blue until today when I took pics. He hatched 080210. How I got a barred out of BBS I'll never know.

These two wild types hatched 081510 from my BBS trio also.

By golly, that's a lot of beautiful birds and lots and lots of magnificent tufts!
Lanae, he is great; I can't wait. He will be very happy here, I promise!

Here's a little six week old who's coloring I absolutely adore. Until I took these photos, I had been able to convince myself that it was a pullet, but alas, as I'm looking closer now, I fear it is a he. Hmmmm, now what to do? Hopefully I hatch out some tufted girls for him sometime in the not too distant future.

I've been meaning to ask..... I received from SkyBlueEgg a box of 12 chicks. There were 8 bantam chicks and 7 standard size. When they all arrived, they looked great. When I transfered them to the brooder box, they all looked great. Then hours later, the three tufted bantam chicks died. Everyone else did great. Any ideas what that could have been? Could it have anything to do with the tufts, or was that purely coincidence?

Don't really know what it is about the tufts, some say these tufted chicks are more delicate and others claim they are no different from the clean-faced ones. I had 11 eggs hatch and had only 2 double tufted chicks in the bunch. One was a blue with medium sized tufts and the other was a gorgeous black with perfect huge white tufts. Unfortunately before they were one week old they just started getting weak and despite all my efforts I lost both of them. I was super bummed-out for days! Have had no problems with the remaining chicks at all. Go figure.... Now I am trying to find a tufted rooster so I will have a chance to breed some tufted chicks next year. Have been told that breeding Araucana's are a real challenge!

I have several little roo chics that are that color Megcpat. I had also hoped they were girls. Now they are starting to crow. Guess that answers that.

What colors are you working towards in the future? I sent you several pics of your new little blue roo. He is really sweet and I am sure he will be happy with your girls.

I am looking for silver duckwing pullets in Northern CA if anyone has some. I really want tufted if available.

I would be willing to trade tufted for tufted if I have a color someone wants and they have duckwings.

Here is some pics of my triple tufted blue araucana roo.

Hopefully he only passes two of his tufts on to his offspring. I shall find out next week when the first eggs out of that pen hatch.
