Araucana thread anyone?

Thanks! The splash boy is definitely a sweetheart, and handsome too. He is a little bit smaller than the black and gold boy, but is dominant and does most of the hen servicing, hah.

The duckwing has bilateral tufts, but the one on the other side of her face was picked off, the scoundrels! She is so aloof compared to a lot of the other birds, but I love her color so much!

I have listed two cockerels on show bird auctions website if anyone is interested. Both boys are bi lateraly tufted with nice tufts on both side.

I am not working with the white color varieties. In the breeding pen with the white bird I have 2 cuckoo splash hens, 1 blue hen, and 1 splash hen. I have only hatched out what I expected, pure white chicks, splash chicks, and cuckoo chicks. None have any red bleed thru. This is a good size bird also and very sweet.

In the brown red pen I have had silver duckwing hens and black hens. I have only hatched, brown red roo chicks just like dad, brown red pullets, and black pullets and roos with no bleed thru. This roo is not as nice an sweet but does really well if there is another roo in the pen to keep him occupied. Since adding another roo, I have seen zero people aggression. I wish I had done it sooner but I hate to see birds fight. This guy just needed the starch taken out of his shorts. I am keeping a black roo and a brown red roo from him to continue with breeding.

Oh, how do you guys go about getting pictures of eggs that accurately portray color? I thought natural sunlight might be good, since often it is a great light for pictures, but it seemed to not work as well as I hoped with eggs.

thank you. and that means i have a duckwing pullet. i don't know if it's sliver or gold, but she's colored like the one pictured. i'm assuming the guys are colored differently.

So I am again wanting to get a real incubator. I have been using the LG styrofoam incubators with good success for the last 4 years. I have been looking at the sportsman 1502 and the ovaeasy 390. Are there any other cabinet style incubators that are out there. I want good hatch rates ( I know I have Araucana) stable temp and humidity. Easy controls. No fuss.

Any thoughts would be great.
