Araucana thread anyone?

i have a GQF 1266.... something like that, bought it used, works great. this upcoming year will be my first for nonshipped araucanas but it did great with shipped and non shipped eggs, I used a modified hovabator as a hatcher because i staggered my settings.

Ok guys. How is the color and type on this roo? He is non tufted. Granted, I have no Araucana hens ATM...but for future reference.

So, I will be needing to build a second coop. It was inevitable, of course! BUT the reason being, is that I am bringing in a new breed that I may do a few experimental crosses with Araucanas. I am getting a dozen hatching eggs, of the genetic hackle chicken variety.

Just imagine a rumpless Araucana with a grass skirt that magnificent! Oh gosh, it would be worth it to work out the kinks of crossing with another breed.

No stinkin way!!!!! I have battered about the idea of breeding these birds for a couple of years - we are in PRIME fly fishing territory and I know the fisher men and women go berzerk for those feathers. Are they as impossible to breed as I have heard?

What an unbelievable bird that is!

You have to keep up informed on how this newest adventure of yours goes - I am so excited for you!

Color - A decent Golden Duckwing apart from the unwanted white patterning on the breast, some in the wing, and excess black in the saddle/hackle.

Body - Legs are a bit too long. Good comb and love the rump though.

it has been a super wet year here. the fall (and now winter) are just sopping, my farms a mud hole and the chickens are less then impressed! I've been waiting for a decent day to take some photos when the birds are out but just not gonna happen, so i took one anyways lol.

This is how that rooster filled out cashdl

Your guy actually has better shape than dad though. His dad is more width and less length, where it looks like your guy has a nice rump also. Your boy may beef up a little. I think the fire comes from his mom. She has such a nice deep red color to her. I like how clean your guys saddle and hackle are. Hardly any black at all.

Here is a full sibling to yours

I love his red.
