Araucana thread anyone?

I will say it. I am not a fan of the new website. The background versus the wording color makes it hard to read at when you are trying to find your thread at a glance, the buttons for pm, website, and email are no longer below the avatars, apparantly you can't even mention that you might have birds available if someone is interested without being chastised (sp) and told to post it under birds for sale. I would never look for available araucana under the for sale section. I talk to other breeders, you know kinda like this thread, or I go to the breed club, or an actual araucana auction site.

There probably is more user friendly aspects to this site now, I havn't found them yet, when I do I will mentally take back all my bad thoughts. Sure sign I am getting old when I don't like things to change. LOL!

I am ready now for my bad thoughts to be punished.

That makes two of us. Not thrilled or happy with the new site, but not enough to make me leave. I do find is angering that a moderator edited the post offering the roosters in this thread. Through the breed specific threads is the best way for breeders to show what they have to a target audience: people who already have the breed and might want to expand their program through buying from other breeders.

seriously?! in all the breed specific threads people have always been posting that they have stock or are looking for stock, since when is it a big deal, not like there was spamming going on? is there someone we can complain to>!?

I'm pretty sure the skyblueegg forum is invitation only. I'm not sure you can just sign up for it. It won't hurt to try though. I would love to see her forum more active but I expect it will get that way as hatching starts and more things to talk about. I think she told me at one time, that it was invitation.

I like parts of the new forum here. The colors don't seem to bother me and it's a lot nicer to use, I think anyway. I love the way the messages have been fixed now so that they are all in a column and the way the photo's upload from the computer is so much easier than uploading them in an album that never had enough space then you had to delete some to post a pic and when you deleleted from the album, on the thread you posted the photo, it left a blank spot. But then I'm so used to the computer stuff being updated and messed with at the hospital that change is routine, lol.

You guys gave me an idea and rather than be unhappy with the way it's set up now, and it's always been that way about not selling anywhere other than the auction area, why doesn't someone suggest an alternative? It can't hurt to ask. How would you feel about requesting a subsection of the Araucana thread for classifieds for Araucana's only? That probably wouldn't work as you would still have to leave the thread to go look. Seems to me that the classifieds here are really mixed up anyway. All breeds for sale are in order as they are listed rather than grouped by breed so you can easily miss an auction for something you want and sellers might lose that one buyer that was interested. If the "Breeds" section had a classifieds area for each breed of poultry and of course one for "others or misc" then you could go right to the breed you want to buy and see the most current for sale chicks, eggs or adults. It would be even cooler if you could click on a button to be notified when there was a new item for sale there.

When there is so much conversation, a bird posted for sale will get totally lost pages back in a short time so it doesn't benefit anyone that way. If I came in a day or so after something was listed to sell, it could be so far back that I would miss it, just some rambling thoughts....I gotta go to bed...

Thanks for the info Cathy. I had signed up for it last spring but never wrote down my info or what email I was using to retrieve log in info so I just signed up again. I am going to email Ann and let her know I am sending a few people over. Hopefully it is ok.


I am probably just being a negative nelly. I do find that the search aspect of the new site is way more convoluted. I will have to figure out how to work it. But seriously, it is the weirdest thing. I came today expecting that maybe I just had a worse than usual headach and thats why the colors hurt my head, but today is just a bad.

I know I will get used to this new site, and wonder what I was fussing all about.
