YAY!! I have been getting eggs all along but often, they're nearly frozen when I get home to pick them up so I have only set a few. These girls laid 12 today but they were nearly frozen solid so they were washed and put in the fridge. I do have four in the hatcher now and they should hatch by Saturday. The Serama's set the same day are hatching now and should be done by Friday. One Serama is almost out now.

We have had a pretty nice winter but it's turned off freezing with 20's for the high so if I'm not home to pick them up soon after they're laid, they will be breakfast eggs

I'll post what I do get hatched of the 4. Shirley's chick is doing great :) She's doing better every day in Cracker Jacks pen. She may have found her place finally. Now, if the weather will cooperate soon, I should have some fertile eggs from his pen. So far, none are fertile but he's very young still. Just crowing and chasing the girls isn't quite enough to make chicks.

I am jealous. Everyone has eggs and chicks starting for the new year. Nothing going on here at our house. The pullets are around 23 weeks old so I am hoping to find a surprise some day soon. Can't wait to start the next generation!

Interested in my blue tufted/rumpless cockerel?? He's got that funny barring like the pullet you got from me only a bit more barred. Maybe breeding him to your hens, you'll get more barred?

Got my eggs from coberdor today. Very excited. Some are really really blue! I'll set them really late tonight along with some EE and Polish eggs, and I'll let you all know how fertility is in a few days. . . . I hope

to at least get 2 chicks in the end. At least 2 I say!

I'd LOVE at least 10 though.

The really blue smaller ones are from my pullets in the pen. I only have one hen that is laying a greenish/blue egg. The rest lay beautiful blues. Let's hope for good fertility.

Illia, upon your suggestion, I'll look for the egg shipping foam. Do you know any good sources?

Of course I am. I wish I could add him. It is just such an effort to have the roos in the city. Moveing them inside each night. I wouldn't need him until the next generation. I should get barred/cuckoo pullet chicks from my breeding this Spring. Those would be the girls that I would love to have a roo like yours for, but it won't be until late Fall. Keep me in mind if you have new chicks in a few months with that same pattern or if you still have him although I'm sure he will be sold.

I got my shipping foam from Southern Farm Hatchery.

They have quite a few options on the size of the sheets/blocks and the size of the holes. Araucana eggs do best in the normal chicken ones but honestly I think the next time I do Marans eggs, I'll purchase some Turkey/Geese sized inserts.

I had a heat spike on my Araucana eggs in the LG. Well over 110 degrees :hit :barnie :he I loath Little Giant!! I have a hova bator, but a family was borrowing it, and will return it on Sunday. Hurry up Sunday!! I just pray that the eggs survives. :fl I candled the eggs and can see that about more than half of 41 eggs are fertile. The temp was fine last night when I have checked it, so I do not know how long the eggs were exposed to the high heat. :he
